An Evening of Covers
On March 8, 2025, the Ritz Theater in an extraordinary display of talent, philanthropy, and community spirit hosted Voices 2025, a benefit event that blended powerful performances with heartfelt recognitions. The night not only celebrated outstanding individuals and organizations but also spotlighted the ways in which music and service intersect to inspire change. Hosted by Troy Smith, the evening opened with a warm welcome, setting the tone for a truly spectacular experience. The show, featuring renowned performers such as Trista Dollison, Yurel Echezarreta, and Asher HaVon, delivered an unforgettable series of musical performances, each rich in passion and meaning. 🌟
The first act kicked off with Brother's United and their rendition of "Man in the Mirror," which perfectly encapsulated the theme of the evening—change, empowerment, and community. Performances throughout the night paid tribute to iconic songs, including Trista Dollison's stunning "Fantasy" by Earth, Wind & Fire, and Yurel Echezarreta’s soul-stirring "Bigger," leaving the audience in awe of their vocal brilliance. These celebrated artists, including the rising star Asher HaVon, whose powerful presence captivated all, showcased their talents while reminding everyone of the importance of music as a tool for social change. 🎶 It was a night where every song echoed not just melodies, but also messages of unity, hope, and empowerment.
One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of various prestigious awards, including the Humanitarian Service Award, which was bestowed upon Dr. Richard Honer. 🏅 For over three decades, Dr. Honer has been a beacon of compassion, serving underserved communities through medical missions and local healthcare initiatives. His work exemplifies the spirit of service that the event sought to honor. Alongside Dr. Honer, other distinguished awardees included Rev. Dr. Ronnie L. Clark Sr., who received the Community Individual Award, and Mr. & Mrs. George & Seretha Tinsley, honored with the Community Leader Award. 🌍 These recipients were celebrated not just for their professional achievements but for their unwavering commitment to lifting others in their communities.
As the night unfolded, the audience was treated to more than just great music. 🎵 It was a celebration of local heroes—individuals, businesses, and organizations making a lasting impact. The Bell & Barnett Family, recognized with the Community Business Award, have long been champions of education and mentorship, while the Public Education Partnership (PEP) of Polk County received the Community Organization Award for its transformative work in local education. 🏫 These individuals and organizations, whose tireless efforts often go unnoticed, were given the recognition they truly deserve, showcasing the power of collective impact.
In the closing moments of the night, the audience was swept away by Asher HaVon’s powerful performance of four songs, marking a fitting end to an unforgettable evening. ✨ Voices 2025 was not just a night of music; it was a testament to the power of art to unite, inspire, and honor the everyday heroes among us.
