FTL Takes Grand Rapids – More Than a Game, More Than a Trip

This past weekend, our Filling The Lane (FTL) family touched down in Grand Rapids for a powerful, unforgettable experience. For many of our student-athletes, it was their first time flying — a moment that symbolized how far they’ve come and how far they can go.

But FTL is more than a basketball program. We are committed to education, leadership, and legacy. Basketball is just the gateway — what happens off the court is just as important.

While in Grand Rapids, we reflected on the significance of where we were. Grand Rapids, like many places in this country, holds a deep history — from civil rights movements to cultural contributions — and we take pride in helping our students frame the past to understand the present. When young people learn where they come from, they gain the clarity and confidence to navigate where they’re going.

Our team enjoyed moments of joy and learning — from a bonding visit to Rosa Parks Circle to team dinners at BJ’s — and of course, lots of basketball. But the real win was the exposure, the growth, and the chance to stand in spaces their ancestors could only dream of.

Thank you to our incredible sponsors and supporters. You’re not just funding a trip — you’re fueling transformation.
