Filling The Lane Receives $10,000 Grant from the City of Winter Haven

On October 17, 2025, Filling The Lane (FTL) received exciting news from Katrina Hill of the City Manager’s Office of Winter Haven:

“Your organization was awarded $10,000.”

We are incredibly grateful for this generous grant, which will allow us to expand programs that empower youth and build stronger, safer communities in Central Florida.

About Filling The LaneStepN2OurLane, doing business as Filling The Lane, is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization based in Winter Haven. Our focus is on youth development, breaking down barriers, and creating a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and supportive environment where young people can grow and achieve.

Filling The Lane combines sports, academic/personal workshops, and community service projects to provide holistic development. We aim to equip each student-athlete and their family with tools to improve both on the court and in life, keeping youth safe, inspired, and connected with mentors who guide them toward higher education and life success.

Our Mission and Vision

Our mission is to enrich youths’ educational experience through structured support systems that foster personal and academic growth, leadership, and decision-making skills. We bridge gaps between education, sports, arts, and community, turning learning into achievement. Our vision is to engage the power of sport to bring youth together with mentorship, community engagement opportunities, and social-emotional support.

Impact of the Grant

This $10,000 grant from the City of Winter Haven will help expand our programs, support community service initiatives, and provide resources for youth to excel both on the basketball court and in life. With this funding, we can continue aligning programs that inspire athletic excellence, personal growth, and responsible decision-making, all while encouraging participants to complete at least five community service projects annually.
